Fried Ice Cream

yummy, so fatty, but so yummy…. why is everything thats so yummy, so bad for you? it really pisses me off sometimes…. but other times it gives me something to relieve stress with XDDD really simple. but it needs a bit of time. but the time you put in it is totally worth it 😀 it’s a total make ahead-the-enjoy-later kinda dessert 😀

what you need:

  • Ice cream (whatever flavor you oh-so desire), softened until workable
  • Panko breadcrumbs, or the non frosted corn flakes cereal all crushed up
  • oil for frying
  • toppings

take your ice cream, and scoop ’em into balls. work as quickly as your can, so then you dont melt your ice cream any further. immediately roll them in yoiur bread crumbs until theres a pretty even, thick layer of crumbs on it. this will act as an insulator between your ice cream and hot oil. toss it onto a plate and then chuck em into the freezer for at least 2 hours, or until firm.

Heat up your oil, until when a square of bread is placed in the hot oil, it immediately starts to sizzle and fry. to be honest, i have no idea what temperature that is, and it might help if i had a frying/candy thermometer, then id tell you XD. you should have enough oil in the pot for there to be at least an inch of space between the bottom of pot and your ice cream ball. once the oil reaches the correct temperature, then gently slide a few ice cream balls in, being careful of splashes because its really really hot. dont put in too many, or it’s going to lower the temperature of oil, and take longer to fry, which is a big no-no. let them fry for 1-2 minutes, until the crumbs take on a gold crust, but before the ice cream starts to melt, and then remove the balls and right away, stick them in the freezer. let them firm up for about 2-3 hours, or until firm.

When you have a nice firm ice cream ball, then take it out of the freezer when you want to eat it, place it into your fancy dancy ice cream bowl, and then fashionably decorate it with toppings, and then voila, you have made your very own ice cream. and it only took you how long to make? and its going to take you how long to run off the fat from eating this?
